January 13, 2003

Dear ICLEA Member,

Our last meeting was very successful. We installed our new Executive Officers with Randy Ervin as our new Treasurer. I again want to thank Chuck Adam for his years of service to our organization. The main goal the Executive Board wants to accomplish is to provide training and programming for our members at out meetings. We plan on using the money in our account to arrange for training and bring in experts for presentations. We also need to review and update our by-laws. I am putting together a small committee to review the by-laws and recommend changes and updates at our next meeting. An idea was put forth to build a web page for our Association. I am happy to announce that a web page has been constructed and is on line. The page contains our mission statement, an archive of past newsletters, and a membership directory. You can review our page at www.iclea.org. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the web page, please contact me.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday April 24, 2003 at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora. Jim Bondi will be our host. A map of IMSA and directions has been included and is also available on our web page. Our program will be on "Portable and Clandestine Meth Labs". Our presenter will be Master Sgt. Jim Winters from the Illinois State Police District #2. This program will be very informative not only for campus Police and Security Departments, but also for Residential Life people. Master Sgt. Winters has agreed to allow members of your Residential Life Office to attend this presentation. We will hold our Business Meeting at 10:00 A.M., with Master Sgt. Winters program beginning at 10:30 A.M. As usual lunch will be provided for all that attend. Please encourage members of your Residential Life Office to come to the meeting with you. Please RSVP Jim Bondi at (630)-907-5003 or e-mail Jim at Bondi@imsa.edu.

I look forward to seeing you at our April 24th meeting at 10:00 A.M. at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora. When you arrive for the meeting, just enter the Academy through the main entrance and you will be escorted to our room.

Sincerely,

Thomas M. Phillis
President ICLEA
